Being Grateful

As Autumn is in its mid season, colors we have welcomed will slowly begin to fade into another year's memory how beautiful this time is for all. Reflection of the year comes to mind. For me, I love everything about this season. The colors, the scents of burning wood from fireplace to apple butter cooking in the kettle.
The joy of children carving pumpkins around Halloween, now those pumpkins are ready to hit the oven for pies this Thanksgiving.

I wish to share a something I posted a few years ago about gratitude. I wish to share this with you. It means more around this time of year - even though I practice gratitude everyday of my life now.

The leaves, remind me of people - as we come and go in each others life.
We never know where we will land, who we will meet when we venture out.
This excites me.

Some of us stick around for a short time - some of us get to ride along the journey of life together for years.
No matter how long, It's been a life's adventure knowing you. Even if you are
just stopping by here to read this for
the very first time.
I welcome your visit,
and hope you come back again and again.

So here's  nostalgic re-post from my journals almost 20 years ago:

I remember one precious lesson I learned from my mentor, counselor and now dear friend who helped me with wise tools so I can pull myself out of depression years ago. She said " as you keep a journal of your journey,  I want you to write Five things you are grateful for."
WHAT? I couldn't think of one at the time I was so fed up with life at that time.
Go home and write them down. I want you to "feel" and not "think". So I made the effort. It was me and the page. I wrote how I felt every time and sometimes I just thought... but I had to write how I felt. That triggered a volcano about to erupt... well I wrote about that too.
Months of therapy and several journals pouring my guts... I finally admitted I was grateful for... 1. Spilling  my guts 2. not to be afraid of me 3. love myself
4.never say I can't  and 5. grateful for believing in me.
I became a journal writer at 40 - even though I kept journals since a child. But at 40 my life changed for the better because I believed in myself. I worked very hard to clean my soul of bad memories.
Now I maybe going through some hardship but if I didn't care what happened to me to learn what I am grateful for and the other tools I learned from my friend, I wouldn't be alive today to tell you it was worth listening to someone who gave me the simple tools to really see I am a person of value to myself.
And because I am of value to myself, I have the spiritual strength that eternal pilot light that continues to burn after my physical body pulls me down
with pain. The road maybe bumpy, but I'm still hanging on for the long ride to a smooth surface.
I can write a thousand things or more of what I am grateful for... but my best to me is... I am grateful to breathe.

I hope you find gratitude in your everyday living. Life is so much more rewarding that way, it really is.

I am grateful to all I have come to know.
Even though I have no family of my own,
I will spend this Thanksgiving with those I do call family - and that's as good as it gets, good food and great fellowship!

When you sit around the table and look at those around you - think how wonderful it would be to be grateful everyday, for the rest of your life!

Wouldn't it be....NICE!

I love you, K'

Children Of Your World (Poem) - For Paris, France

Children of your World

You speak to me

in places others rarely occupy,

I find your guidance in my soul.

And as it surrounds me with warmth,

peace arrives to nurture me.

with your unconditional love.

I try to pass this forward to those

less fortunate than I,

but they won't listen.

You can tie a string to their heart

lost souls of fallen grace.

Pull them along and allow

the meaning of humanity

to touch them.

How wonderful the way

you make us come together:

We, the children of your world.

                                                           Katherine A. Borges

May your words of truth, beauty and love touch someone who truly needs it today....
I pray for the people of Paris, France. I pray for the world, and send you, PEACE.  I love you, K'
...and Thank you, John Lennon.

I believe we are all created EQUAL!

Yes, the world makes sense to me, too today.
I wanted to share this from Tumblr. Great day indeed for all Human Beings... that IS what we are.
And as a fellow Human Being who walks on this Earth in this lifetime. Our life ought to be live and let live, do no harm and help each other the best way we can with truth, with love and respect.
I am not being political, I am stating how I feel regarding the rights of all Human Beings to be treated as EQUAL around the world.
I will continue to fight for these rights by being an example of live and let live to be free with truth, love and respect to you. I wish you peace wherever  you go, and live in peace. I love you, I do. Kat

The most beautiful is the Now!

The Beauty that is Spring is warmly closing and soon Summer arrives - But let us not forget all that has bloomed anew. Let us relish all the beauty - take it all in.

The bright the bold the majestic
remind us how strong but gentle we can be.
The mist of all chaos, allow ourselves to be the beauty that WE really are...

We can be what we want to be... it's our choice
our free will...

The road may not always be a smooth ride,
but it's your road...do what you want!
If it's full of potholes...FIX them!
Your life - no one owes you a damn thing!
So travel lightly and leave the excess baggage
behind.

Sooner or later your road will be that smooth ride to travel on... so you've made some wrong turns
well change your direction! But keep moving forward and continue your journey where ever it may lead you... I wish you peace & love.... they say it wasn't easy... But it wasn't hard either...it's just is what it is.... Some crazy beautiful ride.... don't know where you are going? Neither do I. But I know I'm going somewhere beautiful and it starts, right NOW! I love you...K'

Self Acceptance is Vital !!

Self acceptance in one's self is absolutely vital for a person to be the unique - extraordinary self!
To me, the word "perfect" doesn't exist in my vocabulary - why we use it, is a sheer mystery to me. All human beings are unique and the more you care and love yourself - (not vainly mind you,)the more unique individual you really are. It's a must we do take great care of ourselves - mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Being you is important. If you can't be important to yourself, how can you possibly be important to others?
One of my dear friends invited me to their eldest daughter's High School Graduation Cookout last weekend. I wrote not exact, but in so many words the thoughts below
" Be adventurous, be grateful and live as if it were your last day on earth...
wake up expecting nothing of the day... be neutral... take everything as a SURPRISE!
Do what is important for you and not for others. What lies ahead is a mystery, a journey
and you are an explorer - to be that! and do this well and if something doesn't turn out like
you want... so be it. You can change it or just let it be...but be you."
Be your true self and you may have the most unique extraordinary life regardless of the ups and downs...as long as you are you... the individual, you are strikingly, a beautiful person.
Now go forth and be that special, you!

I have to share this fun song by Grace Jones... a unique individual in her own right.
Enjoy! I love you!

The Spirit of being me

Many of us come from different places, have done different things, faced our ups and downs and continue to plow through whatever challenges or surprises we face daily in our lives. While some of us complain, there are those of us that rejoice of wonderful things that have happened to us. Yes, we are all different flavors and not one of us 'taste' the same....that to me is the beauty and reality in our world .and while some of us attain the 'good life' early in life, there are those of us still struggling living paycheck to paycheck just to get by. To some of us 'late bloomers' we gather our experience in a 'medicine bag' and pull out something out of this 'bag' when we want to... as long as it's true to ourselves and is part of our SELF....unique comes to mind. I don't ask 'why' so much as I did as a child.

I try not to complicate my life. I feel keeping things and situations simple...it works for me, does it for you? Try it. And do we REALLY have to wait for a near-death experience, that firecracker to light up our ass to know all in life is beautiful? To some of us, it has. We've all been caught up with one another's trials and tribulations. But have we REALLY shared our joys and not think or feel another's joys to be vain or egotistical...I say not...but others do.
We are not perfect. I do not like that word and have excluded this word from my vocabulary...it doesn't exist. I just accept you, just the way you are. I don't even see imperfection....because I accept you, just the way you are.

I refuse to judge....that too I have a problem with others. I say like the saying, live and let live.... and mind your own business.
Bottom line....they can strip me with all my worldly possessions..which I have very few of. Most I have given away simply, because, I don't need this in my life anymore. But what you can never have is my spirit for living, that is all mine and I do what I please with it and I hope you do too.
So, if by chance you maybe perplexed as to why I am writing this....it's because I love you, even if I don't know you and if I do know you, you know I do love you. No, I'm not going away, I'm not dying....I'm just living and saying...it's just the spirit of being, ME.
