In these strange and ignorant
times, its difficult to say how you feel these days without the thought of
hurting someone’s feelings…. Like not being politically correct. Well guess
what? Fuck it. We have gotten to the point of banning people because of their
speech/opinion. if this makes you cringe, change the channel because I got to
you. So, hold on to your seat it can be a bit bumpy, the truth does hurt. I pride
myself in saying my truth using common sense.
I can put a disclaimer as I am
not directing this to offend nor shock anyone or any group of people. We are
all humans the last time I looked out the window. Let me entertain you!
What I heard today got me going
and that was the subject of respecting one’s speech/opinion. I am a Journal
writer, Poet, Photographer and blogger. I love what I do. I am self-published
because I do not have the time to write submissions to editors and cannot
afford a Literary Agent. I work, pay bills, do errands, do chores just like you.
My time to write happens when I have free time or a few days off back to back.
Plus, I do not make that much money working paycheck to paycheck, scraping for
a living, just like most of you.
The lack of respecting one’s
speech/ opinion reminds me of book burning, banned books, banning people from
social media. What happened to our Freedom of Speech? Have we gotten judgmental,
crazy or butthurt? Whatever happened to “sticks and stones may break my bones,
but words will never hurt me”? Do parents teach their kids to have a “thick
skin” or not to take what people say as ‘Personal’? Think about this: what we
may say online can have us fired or banned from a social media site. Is there a
speech investigator online judging what you say write – even if you have a
difference of opinion? Yes, there is, and it sucks.
A long time ago my father pointed
to the television and said this: You see this television; this is what I call
the stupid box. If you watch it for long period of time, it makes you stupid. Let
us take the news. If you hear a news story that is too good to be true or you
question its validity, do research for a second opinion or check for validation.
Do not go by what they say because most likely they are lying to you. Its
propaganda. They want you hypnotized on what they are dishing out and most of
it is embellished, exaggerate, sensationalize opinions force fed for you to
believe. Take what you feel is true, question, research and throw out the rest.
Do not be stupid, brainwashed or a sheeple. Turn off the stupid box and read.
Pop meant well and I did not
exactly “get it” at the time because I barely watched TV during school years apart
from a few shows. As I got older, what pop said made sense. When discussing a
movie, TV show, music video, sports with friends was fun. We engaged in
conversation our likes and dislikes with no problem. A few decades later, our
conversations were of news and things got political and our opinions did clash,
and emotions spewed. I never liked talking politics because my opinions are so
far out, I just believe in live and let live and let us respect the opinion of
others without sounding like you are force feeding somebody.
Now we are indoctrinated to be ‘Politically
Correct” on just about everything – that is, if you allow it. What a group says
– is it and you feel your opinion does not count because You do not follow the
crowd. Well I am sorry, but I do not follow and never did follow the crowd. I
am my own voice with my own mindset. If you do not like it, too bad. You do not
have to agree nor disagree with me if our conversation is respectfully, civil.
Though civil is not happening as people take things you say personal getting
upset scream as if offended and call you hateful names. They are right and you
are wrong. You are crazy, you do not make sense. I cannot believe you believe
this and the flavor favorite: calling you a racist. That is so WRONG on all
levels. Where did this come from? How did we get to calling people racist –
that is horrible and nasty. I cannot fathom calling anyone a racist. Maybe a
bigot, as we all can be at one point in our lives, but racist is an extreme and
downright hateful to say.
Whatever happened to the content
of one’s character? Have we bowed down so low to be brainwashed to call people names
or judge by color of skin? That is not the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. in his: I Have a Dream. He clearly said:
Have people lost their minds? I believe some
have a few loose screws. I pray for them.
So, if we say something that does
not fit the narrative of what you believe do you ban someone, go bat shit crazy
or just disagree politely without getting socked in the mouth? Think about
this.
We should have the ability to
speak freely without severe judgement, name calling or being offended. Have civil conversation even if we disagree. It
is alright to have a difference of opinion. We are all different, individuals
in our own right. Pay attention to what is going on around you and turn off the
TV and social media – they, are not your friends. Go outside breathe, say hello
to your neighbor and walk with nature. We will interact socially soon; I do
believe that. Appreciate and be grateful you have common sense and use it more
than ever because it is crazy out there. I am forever entertained by humanity,
aren’t you? Be well, stay true and I love you.
